Fall 2009, Part 4: Mama!

But most of all, we like it when Mama gets home, and we all get to have adventures together.

Grabbing the reins

Well, Bethany and I have been slack in updating this blog since she went back to work in August/September. I sort of suspected I should take a greater role in writing on his blog when I quit my job at the end of September to watch Silas full-time, but I didn't quite get there until now. I'm going to post as I see fit, and Bethany will do interstitial posts when she feels moved and has the time to put bits into the computer. The next few posts will be a quick catch up of what Silas and I do all day...

Thanks for sticking with us.

-Eric

PS. You'll note there is an extra person in the thermal image above. We took it at the Carnegie Science Center, and it was too challenging to wrestle a timed-out kid in a stroller, the streams of people wanting to see the exhibit (or just walking through), and the digital camera trying to think too hard about how to take the picture...

Eric took a bunch of nice pictures of Silas playing on the dock at Komta. Here's one I really like, plus a few others that are nice. First though, is a video of Silas walking with Eric. He's getting closer and closer to walking on his own!

And, of course, a reference to our flickr photo set. HERE.

We were supposed to go home today, but we were having so much fun that we decided to stay until Monday. So, more camping! Again, the flickr site has way more pics. The link is here. Below are just a couple from the day. Eric and Guthrie went canoeing while Silas and I hung out at the campsite (he took a 2 hour nap!). Then we all went for another hike in the forest.

More camping pics. Again, the link to our flickr site is here. Here are a few highlight pics. It was a full day. We hiked at Cooper's Rock State Forest (2nd pick) and Silas went swimming for the first time ever (3rd pick) and, the big news of course is that today is Eric's Birthday!!!!

We went shopping for a Christmas tree. We didn't find one today, but it was still fun...

Eric and Silas (his name means 'man of the forest') hanging out at our campsite.

Eric made sure that Silas has all of the proper equipment for his first canoe trip. We went out for a paddle of Raystown Lake.

Here is a family shot taken just before we drove home.

Silas loves his papa...

Uncle Brian came from Indianapolis to meet Silas.

Silas's Grandpa Jack and Grandma Gail flew all the way from Phoenix to meet him too...

Also, Aunt Angie came from Nashville to meet him. So many visitors, Silas was in heaven all day being held by so many loving hands.

Guthrie got a little love too.

Here we are all out to lunch at the Double Wide Grill on the South Side. Silas had a full day!

Visitors! Eric's Dad and Stepmom and brother (and sister tomorrow) are all visiting Silas for the weekend. We all enjoyed a nice dinner at the Church Brew works.

We went to the Pediatrician again today. Silas weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces... that is 1 pound of weight gain in 1 week.

Our first family portrait.
