Pittsburgh received 21 inches of snow over a 24 hour period from Friday night through Saturday night. Silas got decked out in his snow suit and headed out to enjoy it. After the snow fell, the sun came out and we had a beautiful snowed in week. I had the entire week off of work because the storm was so massive (plus 4 more inches of snow on Tuesday). Here are a few pictures from the winter wonderland.
We drove for a long time today with a couple of long stops. We stopped at a park and ate lunch so Silas and Guthrie could run around. Becky, Tim and Mike caught up to us (mostly because of a late start and long stops) so we all ate dinner together in Sault St. Marie at a place called Antlers.
This evening we started our vacation up to Komta (Tim and Becky's family cabin in Canada). It's an 11 hour drive, so we broke it up into two days. This was our first night in the hotel. Eric and I stayed up way too late watching Live Free or Die Hard while Silas and Guthrie slept.
There are almost 200 pictures and 4 videos from our trip. You can see all of them on our flickr site here.
Today was our turn to host the Roving Brunch. Since we held it outside, Guthrie got to hang out with Sasha and Chuck during the brunch. After we ate we played a little Apples To Apples. Overall it was a wonderful time. All the brunch pics are in the Roving Brunch set on our flickr site here.
After yoga this morning, Silas and I met up with Kate and took a walk in Frick Park. Then, we met up with Eric at Becky and Tim's where we enjoyed a nice meal and great company.
We were supposed to go home today, but we were having so much fun that we decided to stay until Monday. So, more camping! Again, the flickr site has way more pics. The link is here. Below are just a couple from the day. Eric and Guthrie went canoeing while Silas and I hung out at the campsite (he took a 2 hour nap!). Then we all went for another hike in the forest.
Silas got to see his first marathon today. The runners ran within 3 blocks of our house in Bloomfield. Our friends Kevin and Ryder both ran it. We missed Kevin, but there are a couple of pics of Ryder on our flickr site here. Later in the day Silas had some fun playing with Eric and Guthrie. Photos below.
Another VIDEO. We spent a little time outside today walking with Silas's wagon. He's getting pretty good at it. He fell more going away from the camera because there is a very slight downhill to the sidewalk.
Pics from a day trip to Moraine State Park below. No pics of Silas in the canoe 'cause the life jacket was so unpleasant for him on this trip that he was in the boat for literally 1 minute. Alas. The picnicking and hiking were very nice, and Guthrie got a nice trip in the canoe with Eric. Eric took a ton of pics and he posted some of the best on his blog here. For an interesting contrast, Eric got a shot of Silas in his life jacket (pfd - personal flotation device) from our first canoe trip back in October here. The first pic below is actually a shot of Silas's first freckle. I first noticed it around 3 months old, but this is the first picture I got of it. It's on his right inner thigh. The second pic is where we ate lunch by the lake.
Eric and I were sitting on the floor together... then Silas came over to say hi... then Guthrie barged in and took my spot. Everyone wants to cuddle with Eric.
I tried to feed Silas some rice cereal for lunch, but Guthrie kept hanging around waiting for food to end up on the floor. Silas decided that Guthrie was waaay more interesting than eating. I gave up.
It was Tim's birthday today, so we all went over to Tim and Becky's house to celebrate. This photo is a little fuzzy, but the expressions on Silas's and Guthrie's faces are how they always look when they are around each other right now... stressed and giddy.
The whole Sansing side of the family is visiting for Thanksgiving. There are many more pictures on the flickr site here, but here are a couple of highlights from today.
and, the video of Grandpa Bob entertaining Silas. It's a little dark, but I still like it.
