Happy Birthday Grandma Bobbye!!! Now, onto something totally unrelated... Our monthly roving brunch was at Karen and Jwan's house today (and it was fabulous!). They have a little dog named Chuck that absolutely loved Silas. So, we have tons of pictures on our flickr site here. Here is just one from the brunch.
Silas and I spent the entire day at the Maternity Care Conference where Ina May Gaskin spoke. It was really great to see her speak in person, but the conference was in one huge room and I had to try and keep Silas totally quiet from 9 am to 5 pm. It was a looong day. Here he is with a friend he met there named August (not being very quiet). The second pic is Ina May (long grey hair standing far left) and her "blunt instrument." The last pic is after we got home and Eric got to spend some time feeding Silas.
Eric, Silas and I met up with Becky, Tim and his brother Mike to eat dinner at the new Bicycle Cafe. Silas was pretty tired for most of the meal. Here he is occupying himself while I tried to wolf down my sandwich.
Eric and I were sitting on the floor together... then Silas came over to say hi... then Guthrie barged in and took my spot. Everyone wants to cuddle with Eric.
Silas got to visit with his Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Randall in Valparaiso before we headed back to Pittsburgh. Again, all the roadtrip pics are on our flickr site here.
Funny, I just read Laz's blog and he and Silas are both working on the same thing - trying to stand. Silas hasn't quite yet figured out how to pull himself up to standing. Right now, he pulls himself up onto his knees. Oh, and on the food front - we gave Silas little bits of chicken with his dinner and he chewed them up and swallowed them. I am really looking forward to the day when he eats whatever we eat.
I forgot to mention that Silas went to the Pediatrician on Friday for a couple of shots. While we were there, he was weighed. He now weighs 15 pounds 5 ounces. I also noticed today that he officially has both bottom front teeth through the gums. I will post a photo as soon as I can actually get a picture of the teeth. He has gotten so into chewing and holding his own food, that we decided to go ahead and give him cheerios with dinner tonight. He loved them... and so did Guthrie :).
Such amazing weather today. We went hiking with Becky and Tim. Eric wrote about it in his blog here. Afterward, we went over to B&T's house for dinner and pinochle.
Joy and Ceci invited us to go to the zoo with them today. It was both my and Silas's first trip to the zoo. Silas enjoyed watching all of the children running around, and he seemed to like the fish (or maybe his reflection?). Here are a couple of pics from the trip.
So many cute pics today. So, he totally crawled into the kennel on his own. I swear. AND he shut the door on himself. It was hilarious. The second pic is with a scarf that my sister (Tante) crocheted me for my birthday.
