The Life of Silas: September 2008

September 30, 2008: 8 weeks old

Silas and I went to the special 'Baby Movie Club' movie at the waterworks cinema this morning. We saw Eagle Eye. He ate, slept, ate and pooped during the movie. Overall, extremely enjoyable for both of us... and we were the only two people in the theater.

Then we drove out to Kittenning just to see some trees and visit the river. It was a beautiful day for a drive.

September 29, 2008: 7 weeks 6 days old

After reading Steph's comment a while back on how big Silas looks, I decided to take a picture that more closely matches the one from when he was 5 days old. Compare and contrast here.

It doesn't seem like he's that much bigger until I look at the photos... crazy!

Silas and I met Tim for lunch at the Square Cafe in Regent Square today.

September 28, 2008: 7 weeks 5 days old

We had an action packed day of adventure in North Park, but alas, all Silas did was sleep. Here he is winding down for bed and hanging out in the kitchen with his Dad.

September 27, 2008: 7 weeks 4 days old

Silas attended Kate and Matt's wedding with us.

Silas isn't in the picture, but I had to show the happy couple...

September 26, 2008: 7 weeks 3 days old

Bowling to celebrate Kate & Matt's wedding tomorrow, we finally got that picture of Karen.

Silas even got to do some bowling with his papa.

September 25, 2008: 7 weeks 2 days old

Silas and I went out to lunch with Ruby and Susie at Coca Cafe. Ruby is exactly 2 weeks older than Silas. We had a great lunch, though Silas was a little antisocial... he slept the whole time.

September 24, 2008: 7 weeks 1 day old

Eric was saying that there aren't very many picture with me in them on Silas's blog, so here are a couple I took just before putting Silas down for his afternoon nap. I love the dog on his butt in this photo...

September 23, 2008: 7 weeks old

September 22, 2008: 6 weeks 6 days old

Morning exercises. His neck is getting stronger every day (along with the rest of him!).

Discrete bath time photo... Silas really seems to enjoy getting a bath. I know I have fun bathing him.

September 21, 2008: 6 weeks 5 days old

I'm sick of taking pictures of Silas in his carseat. We walked to the Quiet Storm where we met Maya and Ryder for breakfast. Someday I will remember to take a picture with Maya holding Silas. Until then...

He is getting so close to figuring out how to get his thumb into his mouth. It's neat to watch him getting closer and closer every day.

Here it really looked like he was looking right at me. He has started to show more facial expressions lately. Maybe next time he's staring at the fan I'll take a video of it so you can see them all.

September 20, 2008: 6 weeks 4 days old

I forgot to take a picture, but today was Silas's first trip to the mall. He slept the entire time.

September 19, 2008: 6 weeks 3 days old

He had his hand suspended like that for at least 10 minutes while he slept. I thought maybe he was conducting an orchestra in his dream.

September 18, 2008: 6 weeks 2 days old

We bought Silas a new pacifier and he really seemed to like it better than the other one we bought him. They say to try more than one kind... I guess they are right.

Silas got to meet Janice today.

Afterwards we met Eric for lunch at Pamela's in the Strip. Another full day for Silas!

September 17, 2008: 6 weeks 1 day old

Silas got to visit his Dad at work today. Eric's got a couple more pictures from the visit on his blog here. Plus, a couple of shots at dinner here.

September 16, 2008: 6 weeks old

He's happy to be sitting up, but unhappy that the chair is so waaay too big for him. At least, that could be what he's thinking... he's still so darn cute, even when he's screaming.

September 15, 2008: 5 weeks 6 days old

Silas's new car! He really really loves his new car. It's a 2009 VW Jetta TDI Sportwagon. It's got a diesel engine and an amazing sunroof that he can look through and watch the sky pass by on long drives.

September 14, 2008: 5 weeks 5 days old

Naked baby!

We went out to Del's for Italian food in our neighborhood... the 'Little Italy of Pittsburgh.'

Grandpa Jack loves holding Silas... Silas likes it too.

September 13, 2008: 5 weeks 4 days old

Silas loves his papa...

Uncle Brian came from Indianapolis to meet Silas.

Silas's Grandpa Jack and Grandma Gail flew all the way from Phoenix to meet him too...

Also, Aunt Angie came from Nashville to meet him. So many visitors, Silas was in heaven all day being held by so many loving hands.

Guthrie got a little love too.

Here we are all out to lunch at the Double Wide Grill on the South Side. Silas had a full day!

September 12, 2008: 5 weeks 3 days old

Morning calisthenics.

Visitors! Eric's Dad and Stepmom and brother (and sister tomorrow) are all visiting Silas for the weekend. We all enjoyed a nice dinner at the Church Brew works.

September 11, 2008: 5 weeks 2 days old

Silas loves when Eric reads to him.

He did not seem too terribly interested in checking out the first tomato from our garden.

September 10, 2008: 5 weeks, 1 day old

Silas had a pretty busy day today. My friend Giovanna came by for a visit with her daughter.

Then we all went for a walk around Bloomfield and Silas got to see the Italian grocery store where we bought fresh mozzarella.

Finally, after Eric got home, Silas, Eric and I all took a trip out to the car dealership where we... bought a new car!!! It won't be in Pittsburgh for another couple of weeks, so here is the closest thing to it on the lot that we were able to test drive. Silas loved the ride.
