Silas has stopped screaming when water touches him. Super exciting! He seemed to really enjoy his shower with Eric. Eric sure had fun.

I tried to feed Silas some rice cereal for lunch, but Guthrie kept hanging around waiting for food to end up on the floor. Silas decided that Guthrie was waaay more interesting than eating. I gave up.

Big day today for Silas. He is officially able to sit on his own.

I pulled out some wooden toys that Robin gave me. I like the stacking toy a lot, but Silas was way too interested in chewing on the stick, which just made me nervous, so back into the basement they go for the time being. He had fun with them today, though.
Silas is also getting taller. I just increased the height on the exersaucer. It's neat watching him grow.

Silas got to not only taste, but to actually eat solid food today! He seemed to really enjoy grabbing the spoon and helping us get it into his mouth.

Not as many babies as last week, but we actually got to hear some stories.

Silas got this Elephant from his Grandparents Jack and Gail. He loves it, and so do I. The legs are actually horns that you can squeeze and play a tune... like row, row, row your boat. Right now Silas loves the crinkly ears and chewing on his trunk.

That giraffe was worth every penny. So many different parts for Silas to chew on.... he never gets bored with it.

The second roving brunch was tons of fun at Kate and Matt's house. We all got to meet Maya's mom (holding Silas), and eat Kate's fabulous cheese blintzes.

If I could dress Silas in overalls every day, I would. I love the total ridiculousness of this outfit... and the way he fell asleep with his hand inside the overalls. What a cutie :)

We went to Storytime at Joseph Beth in the South Side with Susie and Ruby and their friends Kerry and Sam. It was sooo much fun and I got some great pics of Silas. Check out the flickr site for more. This one is my favorite. His expression is awesome!

It was Tim's birthday today, so we all went over to Tim and Becky's house to celebrate. This photo is a little fuzzy, but the expressions on Silas's and Guthrie's faces are how they always look when they are around each other right now... stressed and giddy.

Silas, Eric and I went to Ikea today. It was Silas's second trip to the store, first trip on my back.

Angela (from Michigan) got to meet Silas for the first time today. She and Troy are visiting for the weekend. Silas had so much fun with them that he refused to take his afternoon nap.
January 8, 2009: 5 months 3 days old
Big day for Silas today. His first significant fall from a chair... he landed on his face and bloodied his nose. It was scary for him and me both. Then it was off to the pediatrician's office for more shots.
His current weight: 13 pounds, 11 ounces.
That's over 1 pound of weight gain in a month, which makes me happy. I was worried ('cause I love to worry) that I wasn't feeding him enough. Glad I was wrong :)

His hair is really starting to come in. I tend to forget because he is almost always wearing a hat.

Eric bought Silas a new board book. Here he is making sure it tastes ok.

I didn't see him, but Max was there first. I'm amazed Silas didn't step on him!

Grandpa Bob gave Silas his very own monogrammed footie pajamas. Silas wore them to celebrate USC's victory in the Rose bowl today. I wore mine to keep him company :)
